Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers 11/12/2017
By: Benjamin Pietrucha
For the second straight time this year, the Bears lost another game to their hated rivals from Green Bay, 23-16. What made this different was for the first time since 1991, neither Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers started at quarterback for the Packers. UCLA product Brett Hundley started for Green Bay completing 18 passes for 212 yards in only his fourth career start with a quarterback rating of 110.8.
Hundley’s counterpart, Bears rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky had a fairly good game with a quarterback rating of 97.0, but was sacked 5 times and was inaccurate at times during the game.
The complexion of the game changed in the second quarter when Bears running back Benny Cunningham took a screen pass and was knocked out of bounds in the pylon and was initially ruled out on the three-yard line. Replays showed, however, Cunningham lost control of the ball while lunging at the pylon, and thus resulted in a touchback; and the Packers were awarded the ball at their own 20-yard line.
The Bears are now at 3-6, and will play the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field next week, while the Packers play the Baltimore Ravens at home next week.
